The Jewish Federation of New Mexico

The Federation celebrated 70 years as "the Heart of Jewish New Mexico," serving as the central hub for Jewish life, philanthropy, and community connection across the state. Under the leadership of Executive Director Zachary Benjamin, the Federation published the Link to keep the community informed and engaged.

The Federation's work extended into social services through the Jewish Care Program, which in late 2017 announced an office opening in Santa Fe, housed at Temple Beth Shalom. The Federation also maintained a presence at jewishnewmexico.org.

The New Mexico Jewish Link serves as a living community voice for Jewish life across the Land of Enchantment, connecting readers to the people, traditions, and stories that shape their shared experience. From the halls of Temple Beth Shalom in Santa Fe to the vibrant Jewish communities of Albuquerque and Las Vegas, the publication weaves together coverage of holidays, cultural events, and everyday moments that matter. Readers turn to the Link for thoughtful reporting on Federation programs, Israeli affairs, and world news, all presented with the warmth and familiarity of neighbors sharing news over a Shabbat dinner table.

Beyond news and events, the Link has long served as a platform for reflection on the deeper questions facing the Jewish community, both locally and globally. Opinion pieces and letters to the editor invite conversation on topics ranging from antisemitism and interfaith dialogue to the meaning of Jewish identity in the modern age. Whether commemorating the memory of the Holocaust through programs like the violins of hope, celebrating simchas, or grappling with contemporary challenges, the publication honors the past while engaging honestly with the present, ensuring that every generation finds its voice within these pages.

At the heart of this effort stands the Jewish Federation of New Mexico, an institution that recently marked seven decades of service as the connective tissue of the state's Jewish community. The Federation's leadership, professional staff, and volunteers work year-round to support Jewish life, education, and social services throughout the region. Through the Link, the Federation extends its reach beyond its own programming, offering a shared space where community members can learn about one another, support common causes, and strengthen the bonds that make Jewish communal life in New Mexico vibrant, resilient, and enduring.
